Why a Proper EV Charger Install Is Not a DIY Job

Plugging an EV into a standard 10A power point is a common stopgap, but it is genuinely risky over the long term. Standard outlets are not rated for the sustained, high-current draw of overnight charging. That sustained load heats wiring, ages insulation prematurely, and — in older Sutherland Shire homes with aluminium wiring or undersized sub-boards — can cause nuisance tripping or, worse, a wiring fault behind the wall.
